Anyway, I like how Groove seems to be taking bigger steps with their releases, but personally, I kinda miss Pullip from under JP. There's something that's really changed... But maybe I'm just getting old.
(I do kinda like Peter Pan and Roman Holiday Ann, though only because they remind me a bit of older releases.)
I still look forward to new releases, though. Hoping.
Hee hee! And I thought I was the only one of the few who misses pullips released under JP.
I just feel the make up for Groove pullips are stronger, and outfits more elaborate, making them more "mature". I don't think I own any Groove dolls so far.

I really like May Taeyang but I'm not goint to get him. I still have a big wishlist XDDD
For the minis, I prefer the Capricorn prototype. She does not look like a goat. She looks like a mini Haute UU

I really don't like any pullip or dal release from this year.
A lot of them seem to be 'recycled'. The Satti Dals face-up looks like she has Marianne's lips, Colline's eyebrows and Melize/Lipoca's eyechips.
And ofcourse Wati Teayang with Assa's wig for crying out loud.

I agree that Groove's themes and elaborate outfits are a nice touch but I also don't find myself drawn to the new releases...especial
ly Pullip. For me I don't necessarily think that they look more mature, but the face sculpt seems slightly different? Particularly the lips...not so much on the May Pullip but the previous ones before her...unless my eyes are wrong?

Mmm... not being drawn to the new releases may not be a bad thing. Gives me an excuse to buy clothes or wigs on the current dolls that I have

When I feel like I want to buy a doll, I really have to think it through, I don't want to buy them on impulse and have bonding issues later.

I went to Toy Fair again this year and have a bit of 'inside' info to share, it seems? None of this was labeled as being restricted (didn't say prototypes or 'no pictures') so I am surprised no one else has mentioned it yet!
At any rate, following the Indian group will be a police (military? something severe with guns...
) themed Pullip and dal. Police outfits are not my thing, but the pullip is really beautiful! She's very sexy!
There's also a new Byul in an adorable pink monkey outfit. It seemed from their stand that the steampunk group is definitely a go, and the pullip should be out first. I think these guys should start cropping up in June or July - the way they had things labelled did not correspond with how the release fliers are labelled for dates, so I'm a bit confused. Anyway, soon!
Also, there were a truly insane number of minis displayed at their booth. I have no idea when or whether they are all coming out, but there were a lot of cute ones!
Jun Planning is now marketing pullips again in the US. I couldn't sort out if the Japan version of the company still exists or not. They seemed to be saying JP and Groove are working together, not that JP had taken back over or anything. I am pretty sure this is only for the US at any rate. JP USA has a new website
www.junplanningusa.
com
, in case that's news to anyone. I just randomly noticed it a bit before toy fair!
I am not sure any of the new releases will grab those of you who think that pullips are looking too mature lately, but even tho I haven't wanted to buy every release (I just have too many dolls to buy all of them), I still think Groove has been doing a nice job. The clothes seem better and if elements seem a bit recycled here and there, I think that can't be helped once you have enough dolls in your lineup.
Seeing her in person, I actually found myself liking the Indian dal - her eyebrows are very strong, and it makes her cute! I may also have to buy a second byul, the monkey outfit is adorable! I like the sexy policewoman, but I think I have to save all my money for the steampunk pullip...

Wow, Nightfall, I just looked for photos of the new dolls you were talking about, and you're right, the Police (military?) Pullip is hot! The blond hair and deep red lips really reminds me a lot of Vivian. She's also got really great stock boots...
And omg, the pink monkey Byul is ADORABLE!
She looks like she can play with DAL Melize.

Jun Planning USA has been marketing Pullips in the US all the time, it's only the Asian and European market which has been taken over by Groove centrally (it's just the Japanese branch of JP that went bancrupt). I am eager to see what comes of their website, it's not as if it's filled with information (yet!)..!

That makes sense. For some reason, I had had the impression that JP in the US was only going to be handling anime figures. Well, not 'for some reason', but rather because the only info I saw (or at least remembered!) said the Japanese version went bankrupt and the US version still existed - but I was told the US version did anime stuff. But it makes a lot more sense that they handle the dolls, because in previous years at toy fair (before the bankruptcy), the JP booth was all dolls and Nightmare Before Christmas stuff. This year it was dolls only. I too am really interested to see what they do with the US website, I hope they populate all the "coming soon" sections!

Mm, the information has been confusing; I base my knowledge on how Scot of The Valley of the Dolls has been an agent for JP USA all the time, travelling with them to doll shows etc. The website has definitely got a lot of potential, I really miss an official web in English, with all the info available.
