Hi everyone!
Poohki's obitsu tutorial on here is wonderful, but I think I must just be incompetent at this  Sweatdrop  A while back, I switched my Chill, Eponine, to an obitsu and just encountered every possible problem.  First the new type of obitsus seem to be too floppy and there wasn't a way to fix that, so I ordered the old style of SB2 for her.  The body itself was fine, but the plastic around the neck hole on her head keeps melting.  I had been using some of those clear hair rubberbands on the first body, but even though I haven't used those on her second body, her head keeps melting around the neck such that it's very hard to turn her head.  I tried cutting away the melted plastic earlier, but this doesn't stop future melting it seems.  I don't know whether this is a continued reaction to the rubberbands (though I was pretty sure the clear ones wouldn't cause melt) or to the obitsu body itself.  Help!   Sweatdrop

Can you get any pictures of this melting? This sounds like a very interesting problem.

I opened my Papin, Eleanore today and she had some melt there too, only slight melt, but it's there. Sweatdrop (So you're not the only one!)

I used those clear hair rubberbands from Claire's (the tiny, tiny ones) I checked her body and head, but they look fine, I think it's just the rubberband that melted... Thinking

I think that may be it because I know that those things definitely fuse together after awhile...not even a year like it takes maybe a few months.

Yes, I've had those rubberbands melt too. Roll eyes  Unfortunately, there's no better way to thicken up the neck peg at this time.  It's one of those necessary evils of Obitsuing. Sigh...

I'd recommend spending the extra $2 and buying the more expensive rubber bands!

I've never encountered this "melt" on any of my girls -- and Niz and Panda have been obtisued for over a year and a half.

I buy Scunci brand "no tangle" mini rubber bands and they've worked wonderfully for me.

I also recommend teflon tape that you use for plumbing. I've used that on my girls that I've obitsu'd and have had no trouble melting. I also used it on Paja's loose arm.  Bookworm

I still haven't figured out how to fix the floppy neck though in the new obitsu's. My poor Eternia wants a better body but until I have the time to fix it... Sweatdrop

Or craft foam. It works, but I put two thick strips in it (since when you press it down it becomes thinner)
But over time it becomes thinner and thinner... barely a week and Cayenne's head is all bobbly again  DOH !! (but I was using Mr. Magic Eraser  Laugh )

Where exactly do you put it? Aki has a floppy neck too. :(

Sounds like a good idea, Aki has melting at her neck area too. Might try teflon tape instead.

Around the spot where the rubberbands go.

I dunno about you guys, but I obitsued Ciel without anything in the neck. Yup, no elastic bands, no craft foam, no teflon tape, nada, zilch. It was weird, but after I sawed the largest peg I realised the eye-hook was off. But I installed the peg anyway. With a little tweaking and all I got the neck part into her head. But it's so stiff, she can't turn her head Laugh

I'm going to try the apoxie idea that I read about on requiemart - has anyone here tried it?

I think the apoxie's for HBs, since SBs come with replacement pegs. I'm going to try vanie's teflon tape idea, I was thinking the same thing too, since I noticed the plastic melt around Aki's  neck hole when I took her apart for my pre-new year's day cleaning. It's reassuring to know I'm not the only one with the problem and it looks like a normal issue. Will replace Aki's bands with teflon tape once I obitsu Sachiko later.

Thanks for the replies everyone :)  I guess I hadn't realized before that this was one of the hazards of obitsu-ing a pullips, since many of you have the same problem.  It does, however, make me afraid to obitsu the rest of my girls even though I love the way the obitsu bodies look....

Could you tell me where you bought those^^? I may be obitsuing my girl sometime soon~

I get them at Walgreen's, in the hair section. They're more pricy than other brands, but worth it, I think. I opened up Paja the other day, who I had put on a Type 1 with lots of rubber bands... last summer, I think? I don't really remember! But she was perfectly fine, too.
