Hi all, I just replaced my Cinnamon Stick's type three body with a hard bust Obitsu body and I thought I would post a tutorial of it for you all. (Note: the SB and HB bodies have a different neck construction so this only applies to the Obitsu 27cm HB body)

So first things first, you will need a pullip, and an Obitsu 27cm hard bust body as seen below.

...as well as a good x-acto knife kit (probably not as well stocked as the one below  but make sure that you have at least one small saw blade), a small set of screw drivers with both a small phillips head screw driver (for the head screws) and a small flat head screw driver (for general prying and tucking), a good strong cutting surface and a partial piece of rubber band, for later.

Begin by de-wigging your girl, and unscrewing her head plates.

Then scalp her, by sliding a small flat head screw driver into the seam between the scalp and the back head plate and pushing down. This shouldn't require too much effort as there isn't very much glue.

Once the scalp is free, go ahead and unscrew the last screw at the top of her head.

...now you should have something like this.

You will notice when you take the pullip body out of the head, that the neck knob is considerably smaller then the one on the Obitsu body.... this is what we want to change.

So lay aside the Pullip pieces for the time being and go ahead and unscrew the obitsu dummy neck knob that comes on the Obitsu body.

Now, using your x-acto knife, equiped with a saw blade, you want to remove about an 1/8 of an inch from the top of the Obitsu neck piece.

...because of the fiddly nature of this piece you may find it easiest to saw most of the way through and then use a slicing tool to cut the last little bit.

Once you're done with that, go ahead and grab the little baggy that came in the Obitsu box. Inside you should find three standard neck knobs... you want to use the largest one. In this case the one in the middle.

You will want to remove about an 1/8 of an inch from the bottom of this knob.

This is somewhat more difficult then sawing into the neck piece so hold it tightly and make sure to keep an eye on your fingers. If you have trouble finding traction on the surface of the knob, then use a standard x-acto blade to score the surface so your saw blade has a little trench to guide it... as I said above this may take some effort but eventually it will come apart, and look something like this.

Note: During the sawing process it is possible for pieces of plastic to get lodged in to bottom opening of the neck piece, so remember to check it and clean it out with your screw driver before proceeding to the next step.

Now let's check our progress, we should have two modified pieces on the body that look something like this in comparison to the original.
Modified:

Original:

Now that we have that part done, we can move on to reassembly.
First take the modified neck knob, place it onto the neck piece (where the dummy knob once was) and screw it into place.
Then before you do anything else test it in your pullip's head, by placing it into the neck opening and testing the eye movement. If the eyes move you can go on to the next step... If not you're going to need to go back and shave off a little more plastic from both pieces.

While you are testing the new fit you may notice that the obitsu neck is somewhat wobbily in the pullip neck joint, this is a common problem with this modification, but it is easily remedied.
First you will need to get yourself a piece of small flat rubberband.

Now take the rubber band and put one end into the space between the knob and the end of the neck, and holding that end with your finger begin to wrap the rubber band around the neck piece filling the open space.

Once done, take the free end of the rubber band and tuck it into the opening at the end of the neck.

Note: You may have to use a small flat head screw driver to force the end into place so the whole thing doesn't unravel.

Now, last but not least, place the body back into the neck joint in the head, and screw the head plates back together... you may have to use force to hold the plates together, as the addition of the rubber band tends to push them apart.  I'm sorry, I'm woefully short of pictures on this part but when you're done you should have something like this...

(hopefully with a better color match then poor Cinnamon Stick. Oopsies.  DOH !! Blushing)

Now all you have to do is glue back her scalp and her wig, redress her and off you go.  Victory!! Throwing confetti!

(If this tutorial is in any way confusing please let me know, I may have omitted or glossed over something without realizing it.)  Cute!

Thank you! I had gotten a Soft Bust Obitsu for Erin, and the neck pieces are definitely different from what you've shown. Interesting to see the difference! Kitty

Great tutorial, Blur! I'm sure this will help me a lot in the future.

So you have to remove a Pullip's wig in order to do a new body? So do you glue them back on or something? I'm just so new to this and I'm really uncertain about taking my girls' wigs off at all. Sweatdrop I'd kinda like to get them both obitsu bodies somewhere down the line, but I'm scared to take the wig off. I'm mostly afraid that I'll do it wrong and mess it up. Sigh...

I'm glad you all like the tutorial.? Cute!? Hug Hug
I just ordered some new Acrylic eyes so if all goes well I'll hopefully be able to follow up with a eye swap tutorial sometime in the next few weeks.? Victory!!

Sakuya: You do have to remove the wig to change the body, but it's not terribly difficult. I managed to remove Raphia's wig without a lot of effort, Nina's was slightly more difficult... could be that it had better glue, but I'm thinking it was because I removed it without prepping it first.
If you're scared you could always try soaking her wig in the a little hot water to soften the glue a bit (just tap hot will do). It's not water soluable glue but the hot water trick made Raphia's wig a snap to pull off.
What I did to remove the wigs was to start at the back of their heads and search for a weak spot in the glue and work my fingers under the wig there... it's only glued down at the edges so once you get a little gap it's fairly easy to work your way around her head making the gap bigger as you go. If you reach a tough spot move in the other direction and see if you can work your way around to it from the opposite side.

Once you've finished the body swap, then you'll need to glue down both the scalp and the wig. I found the scalp glueing to be very easy, just a few dabs of tacky glue (I use the water soluable white Aleene's tacky glue, to make it easier to remove these things again if I decide I want to go back into my pullip's head) After about 12 hours, when the glue has solidified enough to keep the scalp in place I go ahead and glue the wig back on. This I found is slightly more difficult, but not really hard. To do this I first positioned the hair the way I wanted it to look, and then holding it down on the front edge I squirted a little glue in under the back edge and held it tight for a minute or so, then I reversed it; holding the back down while I put glue in the front. After that I wrapped rubberbands around her wigged head to keep the wig in place while the glue dried. (Aleene's takes about 24 hours to dry completely, so just let your girl sit untouched for a full day before you pull off the rubberbands.)
Hope this helps.  Cute!
(I'll be glueing Cinnamon's wig back down next week so if you want I can put up a few photos of it. Just let me know.?)

Alternatively, you can use adhesive velcro for both the scalp and the wig.  That's what I did with Hayley.  Velcro makes it both secure and temporary in case you need to get into the head again.

..I didn't take Erin's wig off at all. I didn't take off the back half of her head, either... I just made sure I cut off enough of the neck knob and undid the two screws and pryed her head open just enough to get the old neck out and put the new one in.

But that was a SB Obitsu, and the neck knob is less complicated than the HB...

Great tutorial blur! It's all so helpful.  Hug I have two obitsu bodies on the way (SB1 and the one with the big bewbies ^^;; ) and I've been a bit afraid of that swapping.  Blushing
And thanks to everyone else's advices too. Its so good to know that I don't have to take the wig off completely.  Cute!

Switching Pullip stock bodies for Obitsu Soft Bust body types is very similar to switching to an Obitsu Hard Bust.  Please keep in mind that this is how I did this, so you can use what you have available or substitute materials as you see fit.  Let's get started!

Here is all the supplies you'll need.  Your original Pullip, the replacement body, the bag of extra neck pegs that came with the new body, pliers, a fine tooth saw or other cutting implement, scissors, a butter knife, a set of small screwdrivers, tape, a marker, small rubber bands and adhesive velcro.

Start by removing your doll's wig from the back of her head.  Some Pullips have fairly easy-to-remove wigs, but others have wigs that are glued very well.  Look for a weak spot in the glue that you can use as your starting point.

If you have a hard time getting the wig off with your fingers, use a butter knife or other pointed item (i.e. a flathead screwdriver, a chopstick) to pry it up.  Be careful not to scratch the head, but if you do it will most likely be covered by the wig anyway, so don't stress out.

If you don't want to remove the whole wig, you only need to pull it off to just past the seam that joins the two parts of the head.  This will be far enough to do everything you need to do.

Expose the scalp by flipping the wig forward (or completely removing the wig, if you decided to remove it entirely).

Use your butter knife to pry the scalp off.  This is glued to the head, so you'll probably hear a soft popping sound as the glue is broken.

This is what the back of the head looks like without the scalp (please excuse the velcro--that will come later).  Notice where the red arrows indicate the three screws that need to be loosened to take the head apart.

Loosen the three screws.  Be very careful not to lose them.

Take off the back of the head.  Again, be very careful not to lose the three screws.  Set the back of the head and the screws aside.

If you're worried about losing the screws, stick them to a piece of tape and fold the tape over them.  This will keep them all together.

You can label the tape with a marker to tell you where the screws came from ('H' for head).  This is especially useful if you're also doing other customizations involving the eye mechanism, as that uses different sized screws.

This is what the open head looks like.

Carefully slide the stock body out of the neck slot.

The open head and removed body.  Set the stock body aside.

Get the new body and the extra neck pegs.  Pull out the widest peg from the bag.  The body should have the second smallest peg already on it.  You'll need to switch out the pegs to fit the Pullip head.

Take out the current peg by sliding down the soft neck until you see the metal pin holding the peg in the neck.  Using a very small screwdriver or another small implement like a pushpin, carefully push the pin out of the neck.  DO NOT LOSE THE PIN!  You can use the pliers to pull the pin out completely after you've gotten it started.  Put the pin in a safe place.

Grab the largest neck peg and screw one of the loose eyescrews into the hole in the bottom.

Using the pliers, hold onto the peg at the base (NOT on the screw, or you may strip the screw) and cut off about half of the peg.  The pliers will probably make some teeth marks in the plastic.  That's okay.  They won't show at all.

Check the fit into the Pullip head.  There should be enough peg taken off to not interfere with the part of the eye mechanism that moves the eyes back and forth (the little metal circle in the middle).  If the fit is good, feel free to file down the rough cut edges of the peg if you want to (although it's optional).

The base of the peg is not wide enough to fill the hole in the head, so you'll have to bulk it up with rubber bands.  Small ones are best, since it doesn't take a lot of rubber band to fill that gap and you have to be able to get the head back together.  The little clear ones that come with Barbie dolls are great (that's what's shown here), as are ones for braces.  Just wrap it around the base of the neck peg.

This is what the neck should look like when you're done with the rubber band.

Fit the body into the head again, and adjust the rubber band(s) if needed to ensure a snug but not tight fit.

Fit the back of the head back onto the front and replace the three screws.

Since you broke the glue holding the scalp on, you'll need to reattach it.  If you don't think you'll be opening the head again, you can glue it back on.  If you want a more temporary fix, though, I recommend using adhesive velcro.  Cut a piece to fit inside the scalp and another piece of the same size to fit the back of the head.

Attach the velcro to the inside of the scalp.

Attach the other piece of velcro to the back of the head.

Fit the two pieces together and make sure the velcro is stuck together.

As with the scalp, you'll need to reattach the wig as well.  Again, glue is fine if you're not opening the head again (or if you don't mind dealing with the glue again), but the velcro works here too.  Attach a piece to the back of the head, as close to the bottom of the wig as you can, and the other piece to the base of the wig.

Getting the wig pulled back down is a tight fit, especially with the added bulk of the velcro, so you'll have to be careful.  With the type if velcro used here, you can use one piece on the head and just pull the wig down over it.  It will hold with no problem (that's what I did).

The back of the head with the wig replaced and snug.

Congratulations!  You've just given your girl a great new body!  Have fun playing with her!

If anyone has any questions, please feel free to ask me. Grin
